Tens of thousands of young climate change activists from some 112 countries skipped their schools on March 15 , 2019;  in what may be termed as one of the biggest environmental protests in history.

In pursuance of its endeavors to address climate and global warming issues, the Disaster Research Institute (DRI) Preston University, Kohat (Islamabad Campus) organized a climate change awareness event on March 21, 2019. This was done with a view to include Pakistan among the 122 countries, which demonstrate utmost concern for climate change and global warming, for the safety and security of the future generation of the world.

On the occasion, students of Preston University delivered speeches, to express their solidarity with the mission of a 16 year old Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, who was recently nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless work combating global warming. Greta Thunberg, as stated by Norwegian lawmaker Freddy André Øvstegård, has launched a mass movement which could be considered as a major contribution to peace.
